BEND, OR / ACCESS Newswire / July 23, 2025 / The Psilocybin Alliance, a nonprofit trade association formed by and for Oregon's licensed psilocybin professionals, has officially incorporated in the state and submitted 501(c)(6) applications to both the IRS and Oregon. This marks a critical milestone in uniting service centers, manufacturers, facilitators, training programs, testing labs, and advocates committed to the sustainability, accessibility, and integrity of Oregon's groundbreaking psilocybin services program.
Organizational Updates:
• Legal Status: The Psilocybin Alliance is now incorporated and pursuing federal and state nonprofit status as a 501(c)(6) trade organization.
• Governance & Oversight: A Board of Directors is in the process of being seated, bylaws have been approved, and strict financial accountability protocols-including dual-signature systems-are being implemented.
• Website Launch: A central website is in development to serve as an industry resource and membership hub.
• Fundraising Launching Late July: To support operations, outreach, and policy advocacy.
Industry Engagement:
While many license holders have exited the industry due to financial and operational pressures, the Alliance has already garnered strong early interest from a wide cross-section of operators, including:
• Oregon's only licensed testing laboratory
• Ten licensed service centers
• Three manufacturers
• Two training programs
• Multiple licensed facilitators
A successful kickoff meeting was held in June, with broad stakeholder participation and shared alignment around near-term advocacy goals.
Regulatory Dialogue:
On July 8, Alliance representatives met with Angela Albee, Section Manager of the Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS), to initiate a formal relationship between OPS and the newly formed trade organization. Erin Pappas (www.dropthesis.com), Andreas Met (www.satyatherapeutics.com) and Dan Huson (www.rosecitylabs.com) represented operators at the meeting. Key takeaways from the meeting included:
• Enthusiastic support from OPS for an industry-led trade organization
• A proposed "cadence" of meetings between the Alliance and OHA to ensure consistent feedback and collaboration
• Openness to supporting future meetings with Oregon Health Authority leadership
A Message to the Community:
"We are writing to you as fellow operators, facilitators, and advocates who helped launch one of the most innovative healing frameworks in the country. But we must also acknowledge the growing challenges-rising costs, inflexible regulation, and lack of direct operator input-that threaten the sustainability of this work.
The Psilocybin Alliance was formed to address those challenges head-on. Our mission is to:
• Advocate for financial and operational sustainability
• Collaborate with OHA, lawmakers, and stakeholders to evolve the program responsibly
• Ensure access to psilocybin services remains available to all who need them
• Amplify the voice of those doing the work-so decisions reflect reality on the ground
This is more than an organization-it's a movement. We invite all licensed professionals to join us and help shape the future of psilocybin services in Oregon."
